Kathryn Elaine Art

Surface Pattern Designer, Watercolor Artist and Watercolor Educator

My Surface Pattern Design Journey

I’m Katherine Elaine West, a Texas-based surface designer and watercolor artist with a deep-rooted love for nature. My work is inspired by the quiet beauty I find in everyday walks and faraway travels—flowers reaching for sunlight, the curve of a leaf, the shimmer of dragonfly wings, or the grace of an old stone archway.

Nature is my lens. Whether I’m photographing wildflowers in Tomball, Texas, or sketching architectural details abroad, I’m always gathering inspiration. These visual notes become the foundation of my surface pattern designs—where watercolor textures meet modern digital composition.

My process begins with hand-drawn, painted elements, often created in watercolor, and then brought to life digitally using tools like Procreate and Adobe Illustrator. The result is a rich, layered body of work designed to bring the melody of nature into fabric, home decor, and lifestyle products.

Through my designs, I aim to tell a story—one rooted in joy, discovery, and the natural world. My collections are available for licensing and are created with Marketing Directors and Creative Directors in mind—those seeking thoughtful, elegant, and versatile art with an organic touch.
